Templestowe Baptist Church – Worship Centre
Problem
Worship at Templestowe Baptist Church includes a lot of contemporary music with a full band and vocals. The audio was very distorted due to reverberation and sound reflections off the back wall.
The church engaged Mark Hanson from Hanson Associates Pty Ltd to design the sound and audio equipment for the church. It became evident to Mark that there needed to be significant acoustic absorption treatment installed in the church to ensure high quality sound reproduction.
Analysis
The layout and choice of Acoustic Panels, and their configuration, was specified by the Acoustic Consultant. Serenity Fabric Acoustic Panels at 100mm thick were chosen, enabling sound absorption across the frequency range to be treated, including low frequency bass.
Solution.
Sontext was engaged to supply and install the Serenity Acoustic Panels to the back wall of the space and around the stage. These 100mm thick panels also resolved particular problem area behind the band on the stage was causing feedback and effecting the sound being produced.
The other area to be treated was 100mm thick Serenity Acoustic Panels were also installed to the back wall as a broad band absorber as per the attached photographs. The panels were manufactured by Sontext in custom sizes to suit the dimensions of the existing building. Customised manufacturing is a specialty of Sontext, to accommodate fixtures, windows and doors, etc, in existing buildings.
