The interior décor in modern buildings can include hard surfaces on walls and ceilings. These hard surfaces can cause problems with reflected sound.

Interior spaces may be difficult to utilise fully simply because:

2. Reverberation causes speech, music etc to be hard to hear clearly or is distorted.
